Blackberry OS 6 and 7, is it still smart?

Hello and good morning, heard someone this morning ranting on how the old blackberry device has become useless and un-smart. i laughed but didnt say a word. do you own a blackbery device and also think that the device has become useless, I'd this morning show you how to maximize the blackberry device run ning OS 6 and 7. some of this features are available on other platforms but some hardly know about it on blackberry or know but don't maximize it.

1. Blackberry protect

Please, if you don’t have this application on your Blackberry, please download and install instantly from here. Ask no questions first. This is why your blackberries don’t get rotten and sour, believe it. This application is so important that you’d wonder why you never had it all this while. First, let us view the functions of this app.

  

a. Backups 

 Did i just say backup, I should say AUTOMATIC BACKUPS. This application on its first launch would ask for data you’d like to backup and interval of backup you’d like to use. I set mine to weekly. It might nit back up your gallery but it would back up the following.

i. contacts

ii. Calendars

iii. Tasks

iv. Memos

v. browser bookmarks

vi. Test messages

vii. Password keeper database

viii. WIFI Network profiles

b. Security

There are various functions from Blackberry protect that can help you contact your lost phone, track the lost phone, lock the phone and protect your data. My favorite is that which lets you display your personal information on the phone in case someone finds it. Ensure to enable or allow the protect app to make your phone location viewable on the protect website during the Blackberry protect setup.

 c. device switch

The Blackberry protect software also allows you to easily switch between devices. Imagine getting a new device, by logging in your details, you can restore from backup. All your data just syncs in on the new device.

As an added security, follow this simple instructions

 1. Open the protect app

2. Press the menu key and select options

3. Select the enable deletion protection check box

4. Press the menu key and select save.

2. Password Keeper

Passwords, PINS, usernames, passwords credit card and ATM digits, CVC2 numbers, ATM card PINS. The list goes on. I have up to 24 social network accounts, 4 bank accounts with ATM Card PINS, usernames and passwords. You’d agree, there really is a lot to remember when it comes to securing personal data. What if I told you that with your old Blackberry device, all you had to do is remember one password and all other passwords are known. 5. Office Productivity

Most of us like to combine business and pleasure. Some do either strictly business or strictly pleasure. You can do this effectively and efficiently on your Blackberry device using the Documents To Go app, available. With the ability to open and create word, excel and PowerPoint files. 6. Cheap data

Data plans have always been expensive, data caps are annoying as well. The cost to bandwidth ratio only becomes amazing when you consider some of the Blackberry plans. GLO in Nigeria for example gives you 3GB (3072MB) for a #1000. Try that same bandwidth on an android or windows device and you could be shelling out #3000 to #5000. If you are a heavy data user and still want to use the handbrakes on cost, a Blackberry device would do you a favor with a wide range of tarrifs to choose from.

7. Tethering

Tethering.... tethering is when you tether....*rolling eyes*

You’ve got data allowance on your Blackberry, you connect and share said allowance with your PC, now, that is tethering. Simple right? Problem is, not all service providers allow this to happen. The Hotspot feature on some service providers require that you purchase an extra data plan for it to work. Some service providers would allow you to freely share or "tether" with the right settings. Picture your Blackberry device with 3GB BIS Data allowance as a modem *slowly grins*. Fascinating right?

Androids tether and have hotspots, yeah, the IPhone does it as well, and doesn’t the windows phone do it.... blah blah blah... ya right. This is way cheaper. *winks*
