Best Messengers of our TIME

There was a time when apps like Snaptu,Migg33,ebuddy,Qeep,Nimbuzz,ShMessenger and the likes trended. They were on every symbian and S40 nokia there was. Some off this messengers are still active. Some evolved into something else while some just put on a nice shoe and kicked the nearest bucket. Allow me to add that only cavemen and dinosaurs still use SMS and MMS.

With operating systems like iOS of Apple and Android of Google taking front seats and center stage, application developers do a lot to ensure their apps are available on this opersting systems. In no particular order,I'd be telling up about some cool messenger apps.

1.Messenger (Facebook Messenger)
Facebook is here and here to stay,it's as big as a continent already. The messenger on the other hand is one of the best around. With the newly added video call, facebook messenger is one of the best messengers around. It supports lots of emoticons, file sharing (Pictures and videos). Updates have it that Facebook messenger would soon add a payment feature in the messenger where you can pay people via messenger. Cool development. Would let you know when that comes to life. A bonus, facebook recently created a messenger website where all you can do is message your friends and not get distracted by updates from your friends, just visit http://messenger.com on a computer . Facebook messenger simply uses your facebook ID.Considering the fact that facebook owns Whatsapp,it's no surprise that messenger got a web interface too just like whatsapp. All you have to do is sign in and start messaging.Facebook Messenger is available on iOS,Android,S40 ,blackberry and Windows phone.

2. Whatsapp
whatsapp messenger, also owned by Facebook is one of the best messengers out there. It is fast, simple to use and also has almost all the functions of a messenger. Almost, yes i said almost. whatsapp is yet to add video calls but it has the voice call feature. Recent speculations have it that video call might soon be added. Whatsapp also has a web interface. I,ve used it a couple of times and it was nice. It is accessible via the latest whatsapp applicstion and Google chrome and Mozilla browser on PC. Just visit http://web.whatsapp.com on the PC,then you click MENU on your whatsapp application and aelect WHATSAPP WEB.
Picture and video sharing is also supported. The app is easy to setup. I so much love the chat backup and the groups that you can create. Whatsapp uses the phone number as the user ID.It has loads of emoticons but not as enough as some messengers around. Whatsapp is available at whatsapp.com. it is supported on iOS,Android,Selected Nokia devices ,blackberry and windows phone.

3.Blackberry Messenger (BBM)

Almighty blackberry.where it stood, some now stand, where it has never been, others have left. Blackberry messenger is one of the most secured messengers around. Due to its release to android and apple devices,it is safe to say it is one of the most used messengers. Blackberry uses an alphanumeric pin system.
The messenger can send only pictures and voicenotes in temrs of media sharing. Map locations as well can be sent on BBM as well as facebook messenger, whatsapp and some other. BBM introduced timed messages and pictures.
A function where your reciever can view the message for a specified amount of time. This feature was recently bundled into a subscription that you have to pay for.
BBM also has a feature that allows you to choose your PIN right after you choose to pay a little fee.LOL A lot of people hate this and i for one,I'm  not updating my BBM. BBM also has BBM channels and smiley packs to add more fun to the chat.it is also the only messenger that shows what you are listening to on your phone.BBM is available on android,iOS,Windows and Blackberry devices.

4. Skype
you should see my face,I'm smiling already. Skype is the mother of all messengers. At least to me.with a good connection and a good decice, this messenger allows voice calls, live video calls,File sharing, cool emoticons. On PC,you can even integrate your Facebook account. Skype uses a username system. Skype users can call other skype users for free. You can also call phone numbers for free at a nice call rate.it isnt so expensive. I prefer skype on PC. My facebook messages and skype messages just come in freely.
Video calls are possible on android,iOS and Windows of you have a front facing camera. It isnt available on Nokia phones but it is available on BB10 devices.  Search for skype on your app stores or download it on pc at www.skype.com .i could keep writing on skype if i could but I'd let you find the gold at the end of the rainbow yourselves.

5. The Others
this category include messenger apps like Nimbuzz,KIK,Telegram,Imoo,LINE,WeChat .These are my favorite messengers. New messenger services are coming up. Some with features that would thrill you and some, some would just bore you.

Messengers are supposed to help you communicate and express yourself with just the tap of buttons and the least of stress. Security and privacy are also very important these days. So,if you want more info about this messengers. Why dont you run over to google, search for this messengers and read a little more about them and use their FAQ sections. Have fun.
