measure Heart Rate with your Android Phone

The world is getting unsafe daily. New diseases are being discovered, new drugs, therapy and procedures are being discovered as well. We are all encouraged to live healthy, eat well, be hygienic, exercise etc. It is  also recommended to keep blood sugar level, blood pressure, body temperature and other vital details in check. A cheap and simple way to check your Heart Rate is by using your phone. still don't believe?

All it requires is that your phone must have a camera , flashlight and you must have a finger. Here's how it all works, let's take a little BIOLOGY class. The finger have very light skin just beneath the nails on the face of the palm. This area is flooded with capillaries that pulsate at every beat of the heart. The phone's flash illuminates the finger while the camera gets an image of the pulsating capillaries. The application then counts the number of pulsations  and generates the BPM (Beats Per Minute ) of your heart. The name of the application is Instant Heart Rate and can be downloaded here

  INSTRUCTIONS
1. Launch the app and gently place the tip of your index finger on your Android phone's camera lens. Give the app a couple of seconds to calibrate and it will begin measuring your heart rate.

Another alternative is the Runtastic Heart Rate Monitor, download here .The same instructions apply.
I prefer this one. I love the interface.

*you should really try this app when watching the UEFA Champions league final*
NOTE : when using a device without a flashlight, use another flashlight to illuminate the finger or run the test in a well lit location.
